An Evening with Jane Goodall
at the Museum of Discovery and Science March 24, 2005
Friends of The Museum of Discovery and Science will get the
chance to meet the world renowned primatologist, Dr. Jane
Goodall, DBE, Founder, the Jane Goodall Institute, UN Messenger
of Peace, on March 24, 2005, when she visits the Museum for "An
Evening with Jane Goodall," sponsored by Bank of America.
At 6:30 p.m., Dr. Goodall will introduce the IMAX® film, Jane
Goodall’s Wild Chimpanzees, which she narrates. It is a journey
into the hearts, minds and world of Dr. Goodall’s now-famous
chimpanzee subjects from Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania.
Viewers will follow as Dr. Goodall ventures through the forest
to get rare and up-close observations of chimpanzees as they
hunt, play and communicate with one another. The film documents
Dr. Goodall’s groundbreaking observations of chimpanzee behavior
and social structure, which have not only revolutionized our
understanding of chimps, but ultimately of human behavior
itself.
"…Jane Goodall’s Wild Chimpanzees is that rare large-format film
that is downright moving," wrote Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel
movie critic.
After the film, she will conduct a Q&A session followed by a
coffee and dessert reception, where there will be further
opportunity to meet and greet Dr. Goodall.
Founded in 1977, the Jane Goodall Institute continues Dr.
Goodall’s pioneering research into chimpanzee behavior—research
which transformed scientific perceptions of the relationship
between humans and animals. Today, the Institute is a global
leader in the effort to protect chimpanzees and their habitats
and is widely recognized for establishing innovative
community-centered conservation and development programs in
Africa and the Roots & Shoots education program in more than 87
countries. For more information, please visit
www.janegoodall.org.
